2011 BLUES ALBUM REVIEW

Al Basile, singer/songwriter,  delivers his eighth studio album, The Goods. The album is a like a collaborative effort from Al Basile’s friends such as guitarist extraordinaire Robillard and sax player Doug James; all three are alumni of  Roomful of Blues. The Blind Boys of Alabama also displayed their vocal skills to the album as well. Ali Basile is known for his literary and erudite songwriting style which has been called "blues noir" for Basile's storytelling abilities, the material is backed by an exciting blend of blues, soul, and gospel influences, drawing upon the finest Memphis, New Orleans, and Muscle Shoals traditions. (Release date: 03/15/11)
The long wait is over for  Blues fans in the United States. Finally get to hear what the rest of the world experienced in 2000 whenJeff Healy's long-lost Get Me Some album is reissued stateside. Released in Canada and overseas by Healey's own Forte label in 2000, Get Me Some suffered from lack of promotion and distribution woes, something that will be rectified by Eagle Rock. As for the music, this is primo mid-career Healey, a mix of energetic blues, rock, and jazz that finds the guitarist and his band back on familiar ground after a five-year hiatus. (Release date: 03/29/11)
